María Alejandra Sánchez Escobar has been an associate of the Commercial Contracts, Corporate Law and M&A Department of Garrigues since 2021. In this professional practice, she has participated in M&A transactions and provided ongoing advice on contractual and corporate matters. She also has extensive experience advising on compliance in the real estate sector, particularly on the System for Integrated Self-control Assessment and Risk Management (SAGRILAFT) and the Business Ethics and Transparency Program (PTEE).

She is fluent in Spanish and English.

• She has a degree in Corporate Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana.
• She completed a Real Estate Compliance Officer’s course (Bogotá, Colombia).

María has published numerous articles in La República newspaper in the legal affairs section, including most notably (i) “A propósito del Covid-19 y las reuniones ordinarias” (About Covid-19 and ordinary meetings); (ii) “Régimen de las Sucursales de Sociedad Extranjera” (Rules regulating Branches of a Foreign Company); and (iii) “Limitación de facultades de las Superintendencias” (Limitation on the powers of the public authorities).
