Senior Associate of the Energy and Infrastructure Arbitration practice at Garrigues. Gabriela has been involved in the drafting and negotiation of contracts for key energy and infrastructure projects in Mexico, as well as in contract management and dispute resolution processes for macro infrastructure and energy projects. Gabriela has been key in the contract management of one of the highest installed capacity wind farm in the country.

Given her profile, Gabriela has specialized in international commercial arbitration, mainly in the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Experience

Gabriela Cosío Patiño is an associate in the Corporate Law and Commercial Contracts, Litigation and Arbitration.

She has participated as a party representative in international commercial arbitrations conducted under the main institutional rules and before the most important arbitration courts, such as the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the International Center for Dispute Resolution / American

Arbitration Association (ICDR / AAA).

At the same time, Gabriela has focused on: (i) the preparation, negotiation and analysis of breaches under turnkey engineering, procurement and construction contracts (EPCs) for macro projects and power plants, (ii) the analysis of breaches and handling of disputes derived from financed public works contracts with PEMEX and CFE as well as in the (ii) assistance to international companies in their participation in public tenders, mainly in relation to the highway and hospital construction industries in Public Private Partnership schemes.

Gabriela is a multidisciplinary attorney with a broad and comprehensive approach to transactions. She has participated in various corporate, M&A and financing deals pertaining to Combined Cycle Power Plants, Hydroelectric Plants and wind and photovoltaic farms. She started in the tax area of the firm, specializing in international taxation issues such as tax planning, application of benefits under double taxation treaties, optimal distribution of profits, analysis of optimization of digital business models considering the application of value added tax in different parts of the value chain and preparation and review of stock option plans of multinationals. Constant contact with and comprehensive understanding of both technical and legal issues of the energy and infrastructure sector in Mexico and the application of analytical and negotiation skills have been a valuable asset in the projects in which she has been involved.
