María Isabel Alvarado is a senior associate in the Competition and Economic Regulation Department of Garrigues in Peru, where she practices her professional activity in the areas of antitrust law, fair competition, commercial advertising, bureaucratic barriers, consumer protection, dumping and intellectual property. With her experience in the business, public sector and legal firms, she is in charge of both recurring advice to clients in these matters, as well as the preparation of reports, strategies, legal opinions, preparation of complaints and defense of clients in the different investigations, inspections and/or procedures before the authority.
She is a lawyer and has a Master´s Degree in Strategic Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, with a Master in Leadership from EADA.

She has over 13 years’ experience. In the private sector, she has been an associate in the Antitrust and Intellectual Property practice areas at Lazo & De Romaña Abogados. She was also singled out for the position of legal manager of Procter & Gamble Perú S.R.L. and was head of legal affairs at Cemex Perú S.A. María Isabel has extensive experience in antitrust law, consumer protection, commercial advertising, administrative law, corporate law, intellectual property law and bureaucratic barriers, and in various areas of corporate and institutional management. In the public sector she has held the positions of advisor to the Chairman of the Governing Board and the managerial body of Indecopi, the Peruvian antitrust, consumer protection and intellectual property agency (November 2017 – February 2021).
